The Mine Head

The Mine Head is the wide opening to the man-made workings alongside the Manatee River at Manatee Sound. Originally pumps were in constant use, keeping the ever-invading water at bay. Now the pumps are long silent and a powerful curtain of water sluices down over the entrace forming a natural barrier.

Beyond the pouring water is the Mine Door, impenetrable unless the correct key is found…
